The movie Hoosiers is based on a small town's basketball team. The team gets a new coach that's style does not necessarily fit with the team. He is a very head strong individual, who believes his word is the last word and there is no disgusting it. If one of the players disagrees with him, he has no hesitation in telling them to leave. When it came to making friends in the town, he had a lot of difficulties because they town did not agree with his style of coaching. There was one man who knew a lot about basketball and respected what the coach was trying to accomplish. The only problem with this man was that he was the town drunk and one of the players father. The team consisted of boys who all knew each other and had their own system when it came to playing basketball. The first team practice was not what was to be expected causing two of the boys to walk out and quit the team.
             When it comes to a group working together it is important to understand that cooperation and competition are two fundamental dynamics that come into play. Cooperation is the idea that there is one goal in the group causing the group to work together to achieve that goal in order to get the job done. Competition is when people who are supposed to be working together work in a way that is for their own personal gain, making the achieving of a goal a lot more difficult, because people are looking out for themselves instead of the well being of the group. Both systems can work, but cooperation is the most successful attempt because there is a group of people working towards the same goal together, not like in competition when people are more working for personal gain, not the best interest of the group. In the movie, there are individuals who are trying to work together and there are people who are trying to work for themselves. It is the leader of the group who decides which system to adapt.
