20's vs. 30's

             Compare and Contrast/Change Over Time Essay
             The 1920's and 1930's were two very different centuries. The 20's were a time of wealth, prosperity, and a huge sense of national pride, while in the 30's those things seemed to be drowned in the grief of the depression.
             Social climates varied greatly in the 20's and 30's, but there were a few similarities. The main attitude of social surroundings in both these times was a 'get away'. Whether they were trying to get away from daily life and jobs, or get their minds off of hunger. Discrimination was also a part of daily life in both the 20's and 30's.
             Differences between the 20's and 30's socially were the most abundant. In the 20's they had flappers and vaudeville and all these upbeat forms of entertainment that everyone would go to too get away from daily life. These exquisite forms on entertainment would soon be looked at as superfluous in the 30's. These shows and such cost too much for the average person in the 30's.
             Economic climate of the 20's and 30's effected everything in these centuries. Economic climate in the 20's and 30's was similar in the fact that everyone was looking in one way or another to get money out of the US economy. Many people thought they needed this money(which some did), and believed that cheating the system would be an easy fix to their problems. After all, who would miss a couple of dollars from a billion dollar economy?
             The most evident difference between the 20's and 30's is the economic prosperity to the depression. In the 20's people were buying on credit, borrowing money left and right, and gambling like there was no tomorrow with the view that there was no end to the amount of money that one could get.
