Ergonomics

             Ergonomics is how people are affected by their environment. It is a very important factor in the management of an office environment. Good ergonomics can be the difference between a comfortable productive workplace or an unproductive, unsafe, deathtrap.
             Good ergonomics starts with the work environment, from the seating to the lighting, and probably ends with the work hours and the actuall work load that an employee is expected to have done. These things, when in a poor state can lead to anything from just unhappiness, to workers who refuse to live up to their title as workers.
             Ergonomics isnt just the responsibility of the employer, although he plays a major role, but it is also up to the workers to get into good habits. Habits such as good posture and the correct use of equipment put the employee on the road to happiness and bliss. It is reccomended that seating should be adjusted so that the worker sits up straight, and is eye level with the "moniter" (some rebellious young IT consultants use the crude slang term "Screen"). Another good practice concerning seating is the proper use of a foot rest. Some people may not need the foot rest as the feet are already comfortably resting on the floor.
             The employer, if he is a half decent sort, should supply all the gear that an employee needs to work comfortably without any kind of injury. Did I mention that poor ergonomic design of a workplace can result in severe injury or even death? Bad ergonomics can quicly lead to discomfort and possibly even conditions such as RSI. As well as this, it doesnt take a clutz to trip on an exosed lead on the floor after having to work excessively long hours, and cracking your skull open on an un-ergonomically designed desk, causing instantaneous death. Or someone who doesnt take the regular breaks needed to protect the eyes from harmfull computer radiation, and as they reach for their coffee, instead drinks the office rat poison, and lets
