Grapes of Wrath

            
             "The Grapes of Wrath," is a movie that describes the westward journey of Tom Joad and his family during the Great Depression.
             Joad is released on parole from prison and he plans to return to his life on the family farm. Tom cares about his family and close friends in his circle; he does not concern himself much with the other people in the world.
             Tom encounters a former preacher, Casey, in the field of his hometown. Casey was a good and loyal person who would give you the shirt of his back but he has lost his job, his hope, and his faith. Casey travels with Tom to the farm only to find it abandoned.
             Muley Graves, a neighbor who wouldn't leave his land even after he had been evicted, tells Tom and Casey that the Joad family lost their land and is staying with a relative. Muley describes that everyone is leaving since the dust storms from a severe drought. Then land agents were plowing under the shacks of the sharecroppers to keep them from returning. Tom's life would never be the same.
             The men go in the search of Tom's parents. Tom finds his family, including his Ma and Pa, packing their truck to find work in California in search of a better life. Tom's mother is a good women; she cares about everyone especially children. She worries about the world around her and what she can do to change things.
             Grandpa is not convinced that things will be better and so they convince him to come by getting him drunk. As they travel, the destruction of the family begins with the death of Tom's grandfather followed by the death of his grandmother as they arrive in California.
             When they arrive in California the Joads find that work is not as plentiful as they were led to believe. The Joads encounter several camps.
