The experiences of growing up as a child has probably develop more regrets than joy in peoples' lives. In her story "Eleven," Sandra Cisneros shows her regrets on not being more outspoken when she was eleven and also reflecting on the humiliations she experienced on her birthday. I found myself able to relate to what she went through on her eleventh birthday and some personal experiences that could compare to the situation.
             The author tells she couldn't understand why people never tell you that you're eleven, you're also ten, and nine, and eight, and seven, and six, and five, and four, and three, and two, and one. I found that very true when I was young because when I was eleven I felt like still five years old by the way everybody treated me. They didn't think I was mature enough to plan my own activities on my birthday. See I wanted to go to Chucky Cheeses, but my Mom and Dad wanted me to stay home and have all my friends come over to our house. They got their way and I also started cry like I was three and felt very embarrassed.
             I also can recall another childhood event that I found very humiliating, like when I was 13 years old. My English teacher embarrassed me in front of the whole class. I came in late a few times and she made me stand in front of the class and say I am sorry for always being late. She also yelled at me with a very loud tone of voice and made me look stupid. I was wishing I were hundred miles away from that place at that moment and thought I would never be the same. This is just when Mrs. Price says it like she's getting mad at Rachel. "You put that sweater on right now and no more nonsense." Then Rachel wishes she were 102 years old.
             In the story the author also talks about how the worst part is right before the bell rings for lunch and that stupid Phyllis Lopez, who is even dumber than Sylvia Saldivar, says she remembers the red sweater is hers!
