Female Genital Mutilation can be place under three different categories: Excision, Clitoridecotmy and Infibilation. An excision is the process in which the inner lips and clitoris are removed. They stop the bleeding using a stitch, although the vagina is not covered. Secondly a clitoridectomy is an operation when part or the whole clitoris is severed. Bleeding in this process is stopped with just pressure or a stitch. Approximatley 85% of all mutilations are either excision or clitoridectomy. Lastly, infibulation takes place when the clitoris is removed, some or all of the labia minora are cut off and incisions are made in the labia majora to great raw surfaces. (Tabia 10)
             For the many years that will follow these women will remember the torture they were subjected to. Instantly following the surgery,the girl may experience unbearable pain because most of the time anesthetist are not used.
             Depending on the extent of the circumcision Female Genital Mutilation affects the health of owmen and girls. Research evidence shows that grave permanent damage to health. Acute complications of Female Genital Mutilation are hemmorhage, infections, bleeding of adjacent organs, and viloent pain. Later complications are vicious scars, chronic infections, urologic and obstetric complications, and psychological and social problems. (Ruth, 318)
             This particular operation is tormenting, and will/does cause problems in the years to come.
