Imagine the stress you feel when you're faced with more and more work everyday. You are already doing as much as you can when you suddenly have to do even more. We are facing the possibility of having more homework than ever and each year as we proceed the amount of work load only adds up. Some people think this will make us smarter and we'll do better on tests. Other people think this will only make students more stressed out and less able to enjoy their lives. The Westwood School District should definitely minimize the amount of homework we have to do each night.
             First of all, the Westwood School should decrease the amount of homework, because homework already takes up too much of our time. Their isn't enough time to do other things that intrest them. For example, Tim Herloff says, "Researchers say that children also need time to be children- to play. They need time to learn to get along with their friends." (Herloff, "American Kids Spend More Time on Homework"). I think this is true. Once a person is grown up, they can never be a kid again. The time to learn to get along is when your young because otherwise you could grow up to be a really unpopular person. Teens hardly ever get to do things with my friends at night anymore. They're much too busy doing a million math problems or reading twenty five pages a day in a reading book. High schoolers have after school jobs, extra curriculiar activities they also participate in and with school after school on top one never has the free time.
             Also, Westwood School District should not decrease the amount of homework because researchers have proven that playtime is actually good for your brain. Tim Herloff reported, "In 1995, Dr. Richard Hannaford studied the effect of physical activity such as playing on reading." The result turned out to be that, "surprisingly, the students who had additional play activities out scored the group by 1.3%
