Eating In Class

             Allowing students to eat and drink in class is beneficial to their progress in learning; the fact that students are traditionally prevented from eating when hungry is alarming. By changing the existing "no food in class rule", students will not only be better focused but also be prevented from infecting diseases such as diabetes and colon cancer. Furthermore, they will be taught more up-to-date positive and progressive medical and nutritional practices. Since we have already entered the new millennium, it is time for schools to make pragmatic decisions right away, such as allowing students to eat in class, in order to benefit and increase students' learning capacity.
             Firstly, by eating a snack when hungry, students will be better focused and ready to learn. In fact, studies show that students with energy from food concentrate better than those who don't have sufficient amount of the energy needed to focus on their studies. Unfortunately, many students skip breakfast and must wait three hours for lunch – a very unhealthy practice! Teachers will definitely be able to cover more lessons if students are focused as a result of having a snack. Indeed, healthy snacking leads to healthy grades!
             Furthermore, allowing students to eat in class will prevent them from having low blood sugar levels and gastric problems. If students do not eat when they are truly hungry, they may become prone to diseases such as diabetes and colon cancer later in life. Learning happens more effectively when students' bodies use energy from food, but it must be available! With a stable blood sugar level, the brain has enough serotonin, a chemical from food, to help the child concentrate better. Eating in class is positive preventative medicine, which definitely equates to a positive academic experience for students.
