sander meet Helena and Hermia, with the men about to come to blows. Oberon sees what has happened, and instructs Puck to separate the two men, which he does use ventriloquism. Lysander is lost in the dark and decides to sleep it out. Demetrius is tired and rests, and Puck applies the love juice. Oberon applies the antidote to Lysander and Titania. Demetrius wakes up and falls in love with Helena. Theseus enters, the now properly paired lovers are united, and everybody is happy. The humans wonder how much of the night's events have been real, and how much was a dream. The labourers perform their play-within-a-play. Although it's bad, Theseus and the others appreciate the sincerity and effort. This provides us with two different worlds/settings to create that of the court and that of the woods. The court is based on ancient Athens, however it is only Shakespeare's take on what that would have been like due to him never actually going there. It has arranged marriages and very rigid laws, which are enforced by death if you do not follow them. This is the problem that Hermia has her father has told her to marry Demetrius or choose between being killed and being sent to a nunnery.
             Theseus: "...whether, if you yield not to your father's choice, you can endure the livery of a nun, for aye to be in shady cloister mew'd, to live a barren sister all your life..." (Ref.1)
             This shows us that they have some sort of religious system, but may be Shakespeare relating it to his own time and place, Elizabethan London.
