The above graph shows that in April 2000 inflation rates overall and excluding MIP's were the same at 2.2%. If we compare this to the previous year we can see that there was a difference of 0.2% in April.
According to www.statistics.gov.uk the current RPI (rate of inflation) is 1.2% generally and 2.2% excluding MIP's. The red crosses on the previous two graphs can show these figures. This has been done to emphasise the change over the past 4 years. The graph below shows an overview of inflation over the last 5 months. (All figures are from the statistics web page)
You can see from this graph that inflation rose slightly in October by 0.1%. The rate excluding MIP's has also increased 0.1%. This is still well below the governments target rate of 2.5%. The main reason for a rise in inflation is an increase in motoring costs, with both insurance premiums and petrol prices markedly higher.
