This program allowed ranching to become more productive because it gave people responsibilities to operate and manage their flocks of sheep. For example, one person or group would protect the sheep from predators and another would run the grazing operation. The local women learned how to weave wool which provided new jobs for locals.
             In 1983 Ganados opened its first business "Tierra Wools" which contained woolen goods from their flock. Ganados continued to grow and was successful not because it was run by and for the community but because it was built on the community's institutions and culture and is structured in keeping with local ways.
