             The Importance of Saying "NO"
             It was the summer of 2001 when my grandfather was admitted to the hospital with chest pains. Shortly before this he had quit smoking. I had never seen my grandfather in a hospital needing surgery for clogged arteries in his heart. I was notified about him going to the when I was at work, and as soon as my parents got done telling me, they got a phone call stating that my grandfather was being transferred to the St. Cloud Hospital for immediate surgery. My family flipped and rushed to St. Cloud as fast as they could. Needless to say we were there in 15 minutes. My grandfather should have quit smoking many years ago. People need to learn early in their life that it is important to say "NO".
             Smoking is hazardous to everyone's health. Emphysema is a disease that affects the lungs, which in turn makes it harder for you to breathe. Smoking by younger kids is illegal, but nobody ever seems to do anything about it. Most of the kids who smoke have an older person get the cigarettes for them. Many people in the United States have an early death because of smoking. People in a household are effected by these smokers, either they will proceed to smoke or will have health problems later in life. This is why people need to learn early in their life to say "NO".
             There are many reasons why people needed to say no to alcohol. Alcohol could lead to liver disease; the loss of control of your bodily functions and actions could be caused by the consummation of alcohol, and could lead to an early death. It's proven by studies that people who drink alcohol do use other drugs also. Drugs that are used can be used in many forms. This is why people need to learn early in their life that it is important to say "NO".
