Well my little blue friend, the Torah is much more than you may think it is. In fact, the definition of the word Torah, by itself, is enough to confuse some people. We Jews live by the Torah, it is something we have abided for hundreds of years. Without it we would be lost, and have no reason for living. There, is that enough for you? No you say? Well little man, have a seat and I shall tell you the rest of what I know about the Torah.
I suppose I should start at the beginning. A long time ago a man named Moses lived. Moses was a prophet and in the time he lived he wrote five important books which are part of the Tanakh. There are actually about thirty more books that we must learn and obey. You already know the first five, but there is also the Nevi'im, which has stories of many prophets like Moses was. There is also the Ketuvim, which is writings containing many morals and commands as well. The Torah plus the Nevi'im plus the Ketuvim make up the Tanakh. Now let us take a small walk and I will explain to you some of the laws that are a part of our everyday lives.
