Maintaining Immigration Rates in the U.A.E.

             Many countries in the Middle East have attracted the attention of the western world in the past. This caused most of them to be invaded over the years. As a result of the invasion and colonization of the Middle Eastern countries, many westerners used to settle down in these countries. After decades and independence, some of these countries still possess certain opportunities that attract westerners. One example of the oil-rich Arab countries that foreigners migrate to is the United Arab Emirates. In the "United Arab Emirates" section of the online publication, The World Fact Book states that 75% of the three million and seven hundred of the United Arab Emirates population is made up of foreigners. Statistics show that the U.A.E. is one of the Gulf countries that relies on foreign workers. The country holds vast opportunities for work in different fields and at different levels. In general, the expatriates can be divided into two categories, third world migrants, and western migrants. Most of the third world migrants are unskilled therefore hold simple jobs that do not require special skills. On the other hand, most westerners work in jobs that require experience, skills, and advanced education. The presence of huge investment projects in the United Arab Emirates attracts foreigners to it. Although some migrants have negative social and cultural effects on the community, the benefits from their presence in the country exceed the problems they cause. Thus the U.A.E. should maintain its immigration rates until the natives are prepared to take over the workplace efficiently.
