             Data for this research was drawn from non-formal interviews with people to gain a further understanding of the problems at hand along with extensive research from other sociological studies of similar topics. The majority of the research found in this paper is from the published works and studies of gambling and the surrounding effects it has.
             From an economic point of view social gambling fails simply because it reallocates necessary money, intended for use within the localized economy, and places it in other venues. This concept is more simply defined as "shifting income". Through the shifting of the income from the local businesses and stores, casinos are booming and flourishing economically. Economically for the casinos this is a good thing and the same is related for society. Tourists and local residents who become clients of the casino place money generated by the casinos in the local economy. However, the underlying factor that is overlooked is the cost of raising various forms of government support to achieve these goals of increased revenue. Why would anyone oppose the idea if a casino comes to a community and promises to pay back a portion of its income as taxes? On the other hand, you have to examine the cost of the increased police force, road maintenance workers, emergency personal, etc. As one could imagine this quickly becomes a vastly more complicated equation than initially presented.
