I chose to do my research on television censorship. As I stated in my previous assignment, my goal was to cover Controversial issues and censorship in the television industry. My reasons behind it were because of my interest in this hot topic and to answer some questions I've had about it. Such as: Does religion and society dictate what we deem as offensive? Does the content we see affect every child equally or only those who lack parental guidance? How far can we go before we are in violation of the First Amendment? What methods are being taken to regulate television? And how can we regulate without violating right to the Freedom of Speech? To find out I am going to research my topic with the air of several books and electronic resources t find the best information available.
             So far this has proved to be a little more difficult than I thought at the beginning of the quarter. One of my first major issues was the narrowing down my topic enough without getting millions or thousands of hits. I've almost eliminated this problem by trial-and-error with keywords and Booleans and choosing the ones that work best.
             Another obstacle was the narrowing of my topic. Originally I had chosen to cover just censorship in general, but that proved to be too broad. This led to my decision to just focus on television censorship, which is a hot topic these days, and there are many recent articles.
             My first stop in research was searching for books on Alice and websites like Amazon.com and Half.com. I've found quite a few good books, including one that gave a listing of other books and resources within my topic. The real problem was locating reference books. When searching at Amazon I found only a few reference books that remotely had anything to do with television censorship.
