This magazine would have an American bias and some of American big business was still made that they had be kicked out of Cuba, as before the revolution many American businesses had been prominent, they had made a lot of money off Cubans and they had influenced the former Cuban government so it favored their companies. The magazine also doesn't tell the horrors of Batista's government and how it was really corrupt. They also don't write what the rebels wanted and why they were fighting to get rid of the corrupt government and put a new government that helps all Cubans and hopefully get rid of the poverty that plagued Cuba (and it still does today). The article does do a good job of showing how Batista tried to maintain control with muscle and weapons. Time Magazine also shows the hopelessness of the situation as country is in ruins due bombings and power being out. The article also foreshadows how the revolution will end with Batista's army getting tired of fighting for a cause they don't believe in.
             The main reasons that Fidel Castro was successful in his attempt to become the leader of Cuba was because he was very charismatic and he always brought up Cuban nationalism. The most beloved Cuban hero of all-time is Jose Marti and Castro always brought up Marti in his speeches to his followers. Marti was a great writer who fought in the first Cuban Revolution in the late 19th century. He died in 1895 fighting for Cuba's freedom and ever since has been a hero to all of Cuba. Marti was a symbol for anti-imperialism all over Cuba and Castro had read all of Jose Marti's works and made his men do the same.
