Racial discrimination is far from being erased all over the world. Many races, cultures and religions fight among each other, due to beliefs and traditions, that relates to inappropriate, evil and racist behaviour. Racism is pure evil towards human rights and freedom. In the past and even now, different races and cultures believe they are superior to others and may cause conflicts, due to that belief. Some of them would attack and kill their so called enemies or inferior. Others would take over an area of another culture and use the people of that area as slaves for themselves. What a broken world this was and is now.
             In Canada, believe it or not, racism does exist greatly. Some people show their racist by saying rude comments or jokes towards different races and cultures, while others do not show their racist verbally, but instead they insist to avoid other races and cultures besides their own.
             In the Heat of the Night, an excellent and educational novel, showed how terrible racism can be towards the life of others. This novel showed how the black race was treated like thrash by the white race.
             At the starting of the story, the main characters were extremely racist towards the blacks. Chief Gillespie said some rude comments such as "How can a black man make that much money." He's saying that a black person cannot be wealthy because their inferior in every single way against white people. This was directed towards Virgil Tibbs, a professional detective in Pasadena, California, where racism was weaker than other areas. As the story went on, we saw the racist behaviour of Chief Gillespie, Sam Woods, and others decrease. They realized and excepted the fact that the black race was equal with the white race. At the end, Virgil Tibbs was respected with the same respect he gave others, or close to it.
