"The Death of Arthur" is a story about chivalry and courtly love. It has had a great influence on other writers, artists, music, movies, and our cultural values. Numerous things are focused on love. We have continuous romantic, mushy love songs released almost everyday. Romantic comedies are a big hit at the box office. Romance novels are still on shelves for a reason, and many paintings depict love. Romance has become one of the things that most women want. Most women, at some point, want to be swept off their feet. Music and movies are aimed at these women. Courtly love was created by works such as "The Death of Arthur". Not only was idea of courtly love created but the idea of chivalry was created as well. The definition of chivalry is: The qualities idealized by knighthood, such as bravery, courtesy, honour, and act gallantry toward women. We see many of these examples in arts today.
             Knighthood is blended with romance in many stories. A perfect example of this would be Robin Hood. In the story, Robin Hood portrays a brave and courageous fighter who steals from the rich and gives to the poor. This follows along with one of the commandments of the Code of Chivalry "Thou shalt be generous, and give largess to everyone." One of the people that Robin Hood steals from is the King. On one of his visits to the castle, he meets Maid Marian, who he falls in love with at first sight. Robin Hood fought an epic battle with the King, who he ultimately defeated. Through his bravery and courage, Robin Hood was able to win Maid Marian's heart.
