             Working for Aafes was a very Bureaucratic company to be involved with. Everything has to go straight by the rules and to get something done, it has to go through many supervisors and managers. The chain for Aafes is so large that it can take up to weeks to hear back from someone. Aafes is a very traditional organization. Everything is very formal, written down, and to the point. If you do something wrong, then everyone goes straight to the books o r manuals to help solve the problem. To me, there was some good things and bad things about Aafes being traditional. For example, if you miss more than three days of work, then you get fired. No questions asked. Even if someone is hurt. You have to make sure you have a written slip from someone like a doctor who can verify where you was. Also, if you make mistakes like overcharge a customer, your money drawer is short, or coming to work late, then everything is written down in your file to look back on. Many people don't like to work for Aafes because they don't care about the employees. The atmosphere is always harsh and under pressure. Especially if someone of a high position is coming to visit. The managers and supervisors think of the employees of robots. A machine that is not suppose to get sick, be punctual , and understand there job. But most people don't like that. The only reason why I stayed with Aafes for almost three years because in Europe that's just about the only American company there. And also, they always had positions opened because so many people quit daily.
             If I was able to change Aafes, I would make it more laid back and more friendly atmosphere. I would take more pride in my employees because if their was no employees, then their would be no store. So, I would make it a Human relations model/Human resources model. It is extremely important to take care of your employees as if they were family. Many managers need to understand that employee...
