             know all this about war and war veterans until someone who had actually
             been there came forth with his literary narratives and showed us the real
             true picture of war and veterans' experiences.
             The entire credit behind this new and interesting theory of war experience
             goes to Tim O'Brien, the most prolific writer of our times with an eye for
             the truth and with an innate capacity to see the truth as it exists. And
             one very interesting thing to have merged from analysis of his work is that
             O'Brien doesn't want us to slide back in the state of complacency and
             normalcy that we had experienced prior to the war. His stories are a
             constant reminder to the government and the people to understand how war
             can damage an entire generation and how it can leave scars that time fails
             to heal. Tim O'Brien is passionate about war experiences because he himself
             had been on the battlefield for one long year. "Although Vietnam was only
             one year of his life, O'Brien said, "It's a year that's lived in my memory
             ever since and will live there until the day I die."" (Davidson) During
             this time, he saw something that stayed with it for years to come and was
             soon translated into various short stories.
