discussed, and so, the problem is effectively buried rather than discussed,
understood, studied, and treated. Suicide can be prevented, but
individuals must be educated to see the warning signs, and understand what
to do if their friend, loved one, or co-worker seems at risk.

expert Anderson notes there are ten early warning signs that can be a tip-
off an officer may be experiencing so much stress they are contemplating
suicide. These signs include: personal and financial problems that the
officer finds inescapable. An increasing in drinking alcohol. Problems
with work. A divorce or break-up of a relationship. An increase in days
