             leaves the attempts with very little support and quickly diminishing
             interest. While we are under the guidance of managers that are supposed to
             be well versed in the laws and regulations that protect the workers, they
             seem unable to think outside of the box and make any kind of innovative
             efforts to improve our situation or to become involved in the larger
             protests and movements with which many unions are heavily associated.
             The creation of our local union was very much like the story that can
             be told by workers across the country. The laborers were unhappy in the
             workplace and beginning to voice that opinion loudly. Some important
             workers were quitting to find companies that would pay more and treat them
             with more respect. Other workers were getting burnt out and disillusioned
             and therefore not producing with the same quality or quantity that they may
