Every living thing is categorize under certain groups even though they are special and unique. This is a law of nature, they must be categorize under certain groups otherwise they can not be controlled. These groups are not natural; these are human, nature and environment creations. One of those groups is named as students. Some can also divide them as surface learners and deep learners. The focus of this essay will be the surface learner students. Most university students do surface learning and forget what they learnt in a short time. This has a lot of reasons and there are several suggestions to solve this problem. Students prefer surface learning rather than deep learning because of the overlap of the whole exam dates, the feature of the course and the impact of resolve.
             First of all, students mostly prefer surface learning rather than deep learning because of the overlap of the whole exam dates. For example a friend of me, who is an undergraduate in Istanbul University, took her final exams last week. All of her final exam dates were in the same week. She had a real trouble because it was impossible for her to study deeply to all her lessons. So, in some of her exams she did surface learning, otherwise she had no chance to pass the courses. This problem occurred because of the overlap of the exams. If the exam dates had been divided into two weeks than one week, she had studied deeply. So this example shows that surface learning is sometimes not a preference, it can also be mandatory.
             Secondly, most university students are surface learners because of the feature of the course. Generally in all universities in the world courses are divided as area courses and elective courses. Mostly all university students pay much more attention to the area courses rather than electives.
