             Globalization is not only about international market openness. It is also a process in which various cultures collide and are forced to accept various aspects of each other. Since religion is a cultural way of being, it makes sense that globalization will effect the religions of the world. It used to be that countries were closely tied to religion, (Catholic Italy, Buddhist China, Jewish Israel, etc...) but that is not the case today. Today there is a huge melting pot of various faiths and ethnic groups. Generally, people know that they have the right to be informed of all of the options regarding faith that are out there. The fear of being excommunicated or alienated is not what it used to be, meaning that people are much more free today than one hundred years ago to choose the religion that they will subscribe to.
             Globalization has helped cultures to be exchanged. It has forced people to relate to one another in ways that were previously unthinkable. There was a time when people in one country had no idea what was going on in others. The people only knew there own country's religion, not knowing anything about the beliefs of others all over the world. In the modern world, a person, from just about any place in the world, can gain information on events that are happening any where through the Internet and television. Many countries are intertwined and share a sense of responsibility to other parts of the world. The goal to integrate the markets of the world has allowed for more tolerance, more understanding, and fewer myths within each religion. To truly be able to look at the world as a single place with irrelevant borders and inconsequential time, religions must become closer and closer.
