She also reports a new symptom that is concerning to her. She reports that she has begun to hear voices and have blocks of time where she has no idea where she has been or what she has been doing. These recent symptoms have caused her alarm and she arrived at the center filled with anxiety and seeking answers. She is concerned with how these symptoms may impact her ability to take care of her family or function from day to day.
The client reports she has felt sad and depressed many times throughout her lifetime. As a small girl she would cry but as she got older she learned to keep it all in so people would not see. She reports that her father was extremely verbally and sexually abusive to her as a child and her mother, who knew about the abuse didn't have the strength to leave him or protect her daughter from his hands.
When she first went to college her symptoms of depression dissipated for two years. She reports they returned as she entered her sophomore year and have waxed and waned since that time.
