             Once one has an understanding of the role that the Old Testaments prophets played, both during their lifetimes and in contemporary Christianity, one can begin to study those prophets. The prophets in the Old Testament are generally divided into two groups: the earlier prophets and the later prophets. The earlier prophets include Joshua, Nathan, Gad, Samuel, Elijah, and Elisha. The later prophets were, themselves, divided into two groups: the major prophets and the minor prophets. The major prophets included Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel. The minor prophets included Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi.
