The religious and worldview stresses preserving traditional ceremonies, institutions and harmonious relations with the spirit being of the universe (ibid). This sacred order must continue unchanged or there can be great risk to the individual and community as a whole.
             Differentiation is another aspect of American Native life that may lead to a conservative worldview. Differentiation is a norm, code, or rule that defines the boundaries between societal institutions (Champagne 2006: 9). For example, external differentiation of government relates to the interconnection between political institutions and religion, culture, kinship, economy and institutions of local and political solidarity (Champagne 1992:7).
