             It is certainly true that a large amount of tax dollars are spent on the running and construction of homeless shelters every year. There are many arguments that suggest that homelessness is a result of inequalities in our social system. On the other had there is also evidence from studies, documentaries and other sources to suggest that many homeless people are in fact taking advantage of the situation and that there are homeless people who would rather wander around the city rather than live in the shelters.
             One source that indicates that the perception of the homeless person as essentially a helpless victim of the of the system and personal circumstances is false to a large extent, is the documentary movie, 'Dark Days' by director Marc Singe. In the film we are provided with greater insight into the way that the homeless in fact actually think and perceive the world.
