             In his mind of darkness and dreams, Mopsus is a "Prince" forced "to guide his slavish Plough," rather than the true son of his father. Mopsus sees himself as of high worth, although he was born to a humble setting and must work to survive. What he expects from his life is different than what exists in his environment. Mopsus sees irony in this, although he is really no different than his fellow laborers. Through his imagination, Mopsus can build a castle, even while he does no work in the fields so: "without the'Assistance of Enchanter's Reed;/Sometimes a-hunting with his Lordship ride,Or loll on Couches, wrapp'd in silken Pride."
