             The psychodynamic approach assumes the stance that "human actions stem from inherited instincts, biological drives, and attempts to resolve conflicts between biological needs and society's demands to act appropriately" (16). The main proponent of this perspective is Sigmund Freud, who helped uncover the inner motivations of human behavior through the individual's personal psychological history, focusing specifically on the individual's childhood (i.e., assessment of met and unmet needs during childhood and towards adulthood).
             The behavioristic approach extends the learnings of biological approach, in that this approach studies human behavior as a result of biochemical processes prompted by the external environment of the individual. That is, behavior is created and developed as a result of biological processes that are prompted by stimuli, which came from the external environment. The humanistic approach, meanwhile, offers a different worldview of understanding human behavior by positing that human behavior is not prompted by "inner forces" (as psychodynamic approach proponents would argue), but instead, people simply behave as a response to their motivation to 'strive for growth and develop their potential' (17). However, like the psychodynamic approach, the humanistic approach also assesses the individual's behavior in terms of his/her personal history, wherein his/her development is determined as normative or abnormal, and whether there is a presence or absence of motivation to develop positively/normatively.
             The cognitive approach to understanding human behavior takes into consideration the fact that behavior can be identified on the individual's thought processes.
