             Even though some people with HIV might lose interest in life altogether, their active participation in work is vital both for their self-esteem and to complement that the treatment they are receiving. Highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) is a therapy that allows many individuals with HIV live longer and lead a better life. (Bettinger, 1997) Apart from that, "Combination ART with at least three active agents has dramatically reduced mortality in HIV-infected patients". (SAX, 2006) Due to such treatments, people with HIV can return to work once their health improves or they can continue working while receiving treatment.
