ey initially received the diagnosis of autism. Jon reports that his ex-wife, David's mother became extremely depressed and filed for divorce, blaming Jon for David's condition.
             Jon reports that he does have an autistic brother and an autistic nephew which prompted his ex-wife's actions and anger.
             David's stepmother, Joy, works full time as a pediatric nurse at the local hospital and is able to work three days and be home four days each week. She reports that she enjoys working outside the home but at times feels with David's needs and raising her own two children she is overwhelmed, especially when Jon's position takes him out of the state for two week stretches and she is left to cope with two non affected children and one affected child on her own.
             Jon and Joy report that their two younger children love David very much and for the most part look forward to his weekend visits however, they sometimes have a difficult time with David's lack of affection toward them and his explosive temper when he does not get what he wants.
