             Today, the U.S. Government is employing its efforts in multiple areas of technological warfare, using what some consider illegal: wiretaps, e-mail interception and other technological means of gaining secret information, even against U.S. citizens, with the hopes of finding the sources of opposition to U.S. Government policy and democratic principles. Terrorist attacks might be nipped in the bud, if they are discovered before plans can be put into action. This is the goal of strategies carried out by certain U.S. forces in using information technology today. Even if we are no longer using maces, bows and arrows or catapults, it is still necessary to have advance knowledge of the enemy before attacking.
