Antibiotics are medicines that go and combat against disease causing bacteria microbes. These bacteria cause many things but some things they do not cause are colds, coughs, and flues. Antibiotics can do nothing to help colds, coughs, and flues because these are viral infections. There are many things antibiotics help eliminate.
Overusing antibiotics in this day are very harmful to us in the long run. One of the reasons this is very harmful is because this starts making the bacteria microbes form resistances to certain antibiotics. This means that the bacteria start to become immune to the drug rendering the antibiotic almost harmless. It either gets totally immune or takes dangerously high amounts to annihilate the bacteria microbes. When they become totally immune to these drugs doctors start calling these bacteria super viruses. When this happens they either have to think of a new way to treat this infection/disease or leave it be.
Under usage of antibiotics can become very harmful also. This could become harmful by using the antibiotics for a shorter time than prescribed. This happens because it leaves a chance for some bacteria to live and begin to develop a resistance to these drugs. This happens because when people start feeling better they stop taking the full dose of antibiotics. When you do this you can get the same symptoms back faster after you got rid of it because it starts growing in numbers again. Instead of getting the same treatment as you did before you get either a higher dosage of the drugs you were taking or another drug that can help fight the infection/disease.
