             For athletes like Canseco, performance-enhancing drugs are part of a regular regime of hard training. The drugs only enhance a player's natural ability to perform on the field. When steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs are used under a doctor's supervision they do not become problematic. The problem with performance-enhancing drugs is that they are banned in the first place. If allowed, then all athletes would have access to the same set of substances that can boost their body's ability to excel on and off the playing field. Canseco would argue that if brought into the light and made a legitimate part of the athlete's regime, performance-enhancing drugs also have a positive impact on teamwork.
