According to many today, 'queer' is synonymous with 'LGBT' and is thus used as a term to describe members of this group. It would seem limiting, however, not to incorporate some of the other aspects of the word in the definition I will be using here. The conversation of 'queerness' is often used as an approach to investigate the greater concept of normativity, therefore expanding beyond the LGBT community to include, amongst others, the realms of race, class, and gender and the important moments in which these things meet.
