He builds up to the Battle of Point Pleasant, where the Shawnee fought hard and long, but had to retreat due to the lack of ammunition. This is where Puckshinwa lost his life; he was gunned down by the British. Chiksika was also at the battle of Point Pleasant and vowed to take care of his siblings and continue the war against the white settlers. Chiksika made this vow to his father right before he died from his gun wound. Because he was the oldest sibling Chiksika was now the head of the family. He was to hunt and gather enough food and meat for his mother and his siblings. Chiksika was struggling to provide enough meats and other food but fortunately for him other members of the Shawnee tribe pitched in and helped provide enough for them.
