In the early 90's, Jose Conseco was one of the most well known baseball players. His wonderful hitting average, and the distance he regularly hit the baseball, were wonderful to watch. His name is still remembered for his skill, power, and controversy. His use of steroids to enhance his power was the cause of the controversy. He is known as being one of the biggest steroid users in baseball history. Many people do not remember what his accomplishments are, and just remember that he was one of the biggest users of steroids ever in baseball. His autobiography "Juiced: Wild Times, Rampant 'Roids, Smash Hits & How Baseball Got Big", is remembered for having a plethora of steroid using teammates named in it, and he even claimed that 85% of professional baseball players do in fact already take steroids regularly. (Jose Conseco, 2001). With a statement like "85% of professional baseball players take steroids" said by Jose Conseco, it is bound to have some truth behind it (Conseco, 2005). When the fans heard about this, it did not change their preference to another sport. The fans still go and watch the games, read about on the newspaper or internet, and still enjoy the sport. The 1990's is when the controversy about steroid use really started to prop up. When the so called problem of steroid use was at one of its highest points the game was thought to be better.
