According to this view, many gang members are put into jail or are involved with the courts criminal system, as a way to stop other members from committing crimes due from experience seen from other members. This will hopefully discourage children to want to be involved with gangs to avoid prison, police harassment and criminal record. Although I concede that more policing is great. I will discuss why children may experience teenage deviance, change in behavior, and discuss why after-school programs are important to prevent children from gangs. This is important because instead of focusing on the end result, this idea focuses on how to prevent it from starting at an early age. My own view is that, in preventing children from becoming gang members, after-school program are an effective way for gang prevention.
