However, it is not the sex advertised through the media that has become an issue in this discussion, even though it has become in our culture, but rather the marketing of sexiness to children that is considered unhealthy and offensive. This marketing strategy may have even desensitized the adults to its inappropriateness, at least partially.

They explain that girls are sold very limited notions of what it means to be a girl. A little girl is told that she is supposed to want to be a pretty pink princess. If one is not familiar with this, one only needs to go to the toy department of any local toy store and find the aisle that is completely pink. This is the aisle that represents what little girls all want: Barbie, Bratz, and pink princesses (154).
