Many times the only explanation one can give for performing a moral act is "because it was the right thing to do." Van den Beld (2001) maintains that this is the moral "will of God" expressing itself through the individual and is evidence to the proof of God's existence (p. 397). From this perspective, if God did not exist, neither would morality. It is implied that man is incapable of free choice beyond the limits set by God.
