             The British East Trading Company began setting up trading posts in India. The company set up forts for protection, introduced a judicial system, and even printed its own money. The B.E.T.C. changed its name by Royal Charter to the incorporated name of The John Company in India to monopolize trade and the economy. The John Company hired Indian soldiers to help control India and bring its natural resources back to England. The English Army was playing a different role in protecting the raw good that were coming out of the English Empire. The Navy protected the raw goods such as wool from Australia, furs, corn, tobacco from North America, and the very lucrative spice trade from India back to Victorian England. During the Victorian Era, the English government was a constitutional monarchy that also included a Parliament. Parliament consisted of two houses, The House of Lords and the House of Commons.
