             action-packed visuals and quick pacing. Graphic novels can be used to
             achieve the 21st century task of making decisions about information and
             media, thus enhancing the reading skills of students.
             These texts are beneficial for engaging reluctant or struggling
             readers, ELL students, and special needs students. Graphic novels allow
             these students to read the popular, interesting books that their peers are
             reading. There is little text which is appealing to students with lower
             reading levels or limited English but they still address more mature
             themes, as well as provide an interesting and action-packed reading
             experience. Graphic novels offer visual scaffolding by using text and
             images together without adjusting the content which allows the student to
             interact authentically with the text. This makes them attractive to
             readers who struggle with grade-level material and thus provides motivation
             necessary to get them to pick up a book.
             Recent studies have shown that interesting topics coupled with the
             visual support were helpful to ELL students. The lack of text and action
             packed graphics help these readers infer, predict, and reflect on what they
