William Wilson had been one of Quinn's false identities that he had been using prior to finally putting his own name on one of his notebooks. It seems as if five years had been the amount of time needed for Quinn to realize it was time to continue on with his life and by him finally putting his own name on one of his notebooks it shows he wanted to gain his real identity back.
             While reading the novel "City of Glass" there are many unanswered questions that leave the reader thinking aimlessly. A big unanswered question throughout the novel should be why Daniel Quinn chooses to take on that case and make the decision to impersonate Paul Auster. In the article "An Exploration of Police Impersonation: Criminal Behavior, Victimization, & Criminal Justice Policy Implications" there is a passage that mainly discusses impersonators who are focused on victims by gender. "One difference from a male and female impersonator is that few female offenders take something of value from their victims" (Rennison Callie and Dodge). Comparing this to Quinn's situation the victim that he has been following has never taken something directly from him so why does he continue to do this?
             The character of Humpty Dumpty comes into play while reading this novel. The relationship between Daniel Quinn and Humpty Dumpty can be looked at in multiple ways because of the story being told. In an article by Slyvia Soderlind she mentions "Mirroring is everywhere in City of Glass".
