Creatine: It Does a Body Good

ce, creatine, was stored, naturally, in the human body. In its natural form, creatine phosphate was found to be present in the lean red tissues of the muscle (Sahelian 49). Today's users know it as creatine but in the more advanced terminology of researchers, it is methyl guanidine-acetic acid. A combination of three basic substances; glycine, arginine, and methionine composes the basis for what is commonly called creatine. As it provides the energy stabilizers that every muscle needs in order to move, creatine is found naturally in the human body. Its organs of production are the pancreas, the kidneys, and the liver.
The actual function of creatine is quite abstruse and the initial information that must be known is that it exists within humans in two basically different forms. Chemically unbound 'free' creatine is one form while 'creatine phosphate' is the other form. Two-thirds of creatine in the body is made up of these two creatines (Andres 76), Not working alone to enable the muscles to work, there must also be a 'fuel' present to ignite it. ATP is this 'fuel'. ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate). This fuel releases into the bloodstream one of its molecules of phosphate which then changes it's property into Adenosine Diphosphate (ADP) (Andres 75 76), Because there is just enough ATP to provide energy for about fifteen seconds, the cycle is continuously repeated. This is the chemical breakdown of creatine (Ziegenfuss, Creatine par.10).
There are three basic amino acids that formulate creatine. Researchers have developed a formula to describe just how creatine works. As ATP releases its molecule, it becomes just ADP and now, like ADP, it seeks CP (creatine phosphate) that is prevalent throughout the entire body. The cycle is continually repeated as long as there is CP present within the bloodstream. Upon depletion of CP levels in the body, in order to build muscle to full strength, it must be restored. The use of creatine, suppleme...
