Life Cycle of a Flowering Plant

lticellular plant embryo, endosperm and a
protective coat. When a seed reaches maturity the protective coat
dehydrates and the seed enter dormancy.
Timing is critical. Germinating too early, too late, or in the wrong place
can result in death. Plants use a variety of methods in the attempt of
getting it right. Photoperiod; detects environmental change, as well as
night and day. It can detect change in the soil, fire, water. A seed can
             also detect animal digestive enzymes.
Germination starts with the rapid intake of water. Water causes the seed to
swell causing the coat to rupture, allowing the embryo to resume growth.
Air can now reach the seed. Oxygen and enzymes digest the food and other
storage material in the endosperm stored inside the seed.
Embryonic root is the first organ to emerge; it grows downward into the
soil. Roots act like straws sucking water and minerals. The root has tiny
hairs to maximizing the amount of water and mineral intake for the plant to
mature. The roots also act as an anchor, supporting the large structure of
the plant. The root contains food reserves
