Repairing the Reputation of Marijuana

             Marijuana has a very bad reputation, due to people who abuse the drug. This substance can be used in many positive ways. Such as: medicinal use, booming the economy, and by saving tax dollars while increasing tax revenue. Therefore, Marijuana should be legal in all 50 states(Thesis).
             Marijuana is beneficial to certain human aliments such as nausea, anxiety, depression, insomnia, people suffering from cancer, arthritis, and many others. By having Marijuana legal, not only will people use it for recreational purposes, it will also be more convenient for patients to get their medicine.
             Marijuana is a less harsh drug compared to other medical drugs that are used. It is a less toxic drug, therefore it causes less harm to the body. Patients who either took marijuana pills or smoked marijuana have had an improved immune system, as documented by Donalds Abrams, MD(Authority). A former patient, Alyssa Godwell, suffered from depression and anxiety.(Example) Alyssa had been going to therapy for several years and she had been on multiple medications, none of which helped. Once she started using the substance marijuana, within two weeks, she instantly felt better. The doctors let the patient use the substance but in moderation. Alyssa is a perfect example, of how marijuana can be used in a positive way.
             Legalizing Marijuana could pump billions into the U.S Treasury by taxing its sales. Marijuana would be taxed and regulated much like alcohol and tobacco are today. A 2006 study conducted by public analysis informer National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, head John Gettman, used official government figures to arrive at an estimate that the annual marijuana crop is worth $35 billion(Fact). Instead of wasting our precious resources on enforcing these out dated laws, the American people would be better served if marijuana sales were regulated and taxed.
