             Some inventions have changed the world, such as the telephone in the early part of the 20th century, and the television in the 50's and the 60's. Today not many inventions can change the course of history like the printing press and the automobile did, but one invention has paved the way for technology to go to bigger and better heights. By the year 1998, approximately forty percent of all households in America owned a person computer, and by that time, one third of those households had access to the internet. Society can use this phenomenal invention to better many aspects of life including entertainment, education, information access, and communication.
             From Ticketmaster.com to Napster the internet can be used for a plethora of entertainment. Almost everything today is downloadable, making it easy for any kind of person to enjoy staying at home. Anyone can purchase movies, books, music, or games. All that is needed for the transaction is a credit card. People can join clubs of any sort and receive newsletters regarding their personal interests. The possibilities are infinite.
             Before the invention of the computer, the library was the place to be for research. They are still in existence today, but unfortunately, are not nearly as popular. Heavy encyclopedia sets are being replaced by continuously updated CD-ROM's. People can now obtain utterly inaccessible information with the click of a button right from their own home. The internet can teach people not only school related things, but also everyday things like how to care for a pet, or how to tie a tie.
             Although the list of uses that the interned has is immeasurable, communication is the most popular one. Internet communication is one of the fastest growing and easiest things to use. Anyone in any country can be connected to the whole world through a single wire. People can communicate through private messages, electronic mail, web cameras, and microphones...
