In Federalist Paper 78, Alexander Hamilton believed that the Supreme Court (or the judiciary) was the least dangerous branch. The United States Government contains three branches: the executive branch, or the President, the Legislative branch consisting of the House of Representatives and Senate, and the Judicial branch which is the US supreme Court.
             Supreme Court Justices are appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate. They serve a life term once sworn in and can be impeached if they do not uphold good behavior on the Court. Their job is to interpret the Constitution involving specific court cases. The Court has original jurisdiction of Ambassadors, States and other government officials.
             By saying that the Court was the least dangerous branch, Hamilton meant that the judiciary branch did not have some important tools that the other two branches had which made them dangerous. The Legislature has the "purse". This means that the legislature is the law-making branch, which has the power to control the money of the US Government. They create and pass laws that have fiscal impacts. They also pass a budget every year, which gives a certain amount of money to certain programs. Because of this, the Legislative branch is considered to be very powerful, but very dangerous. Some may think Congress is spending too much money on unnecessary programs while other important programs are receiving budget cuts.
             The Executive branch is also know as being a dangerous, not only because of the amount of power it has but because it is said to have the "sword", which refers to the use of the Military. This is a very dangerous power because at any time the Executive branch can use this power without hesitation. Many do not always agree with the Executive branch when they choose to use the military, but it is the President who ultimately decides, making the executive branch also dangerous.
